Default Trump proposes $2000 stimulus check for low-income people

As of Wednesday, Nov. 12, White House press secretary Karoline Levitt said President Donald Trump remains "committed" to a $2000 tariff rebate dividend payment for most Americans. Here's when and what to know.

"The president made it clear he wants to make it happen," Leavitt told reporters at the White House. "So his team of economic advisers are looking into it."

Leavitt said White House officials are exploring ways to execute Trump's tariff dividend payment plan that he announced would be distributed from tariff revenue. Her comments came in contrast to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's earlier comments about how such a plan might work.
...said on his social media account, "People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS! We are now the Richest, Most Respected Country In the World, With Almost No Inflation, and A Record Stock Market Price. 401k’s are Highest EVER. We are taking in Trillions of Dollars and will soon begin paying down our ENORMOUS DEBT, $37 Trillion. Record Investment in the USA, plants and factories going up all over the place."

"A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone," He added.
Erica York, a policy expert at the Tax Foundation, said in a post on X, "If the cutoff is $100,000, 150M adults would qualify, for a cost near $300 billion. If kids qualify, that grows. Only problem, new tariffs have raised $120 billion so far."

He will do everything he can to ruin this country as long as it serves as a distraction from the release of the Epstein files. Supposedly, rather than paying down the debt now, he'd rather inflate the economy. He is morally opposed to programs like Medicaid, SSDI, and SNAP, but is willing to indiscriminately send out checks.

It's about immediate impact. Social safety net programs are a long-term expense. But he figures that if he hands some people that have $100 in checking on a good day 2 grand and they live somewhere where rent is 400 a month or whatever and the poor red state idiots that voted for him against their own best interests but are getting mad over the cost of beef, Epstein files and whatever else may start l iking him again.

I wasn't saying it wasn't a good strategic move for pulling the puppet strings, but it is definitely contradictory towards lowering the debt and building a stronger economy.

Dollars circulate in no time in the communities of the proposed recipients, so this will immediately go towards inflating the economy just like the last stimulus checks did.

This will have the exact same effect as the covid checks. High inflation.

And all of the money will trickle up to the wealthy within just a months time. People like Bezos will see their net worth double. Trillionaires will be a thing.

Dementia Donny is just talking out of his ass. But his ego is too massive to take it back now, so everyone has to act like they're actually looking into $2,000 checks. The fact is that they're going to sweep it under the rug.

Everything is a distraction from the Epstein files and doing everything he can to raise his abysmal ratings. He only cares about himself and never cared about anyone else. We can go back decades, and it's obvious. Most MAGA, including the evangelicals who supported him in droves, know little or nothing about his past before 2015. Sin and scamming people is all he has known most of his public life.

President Trump on Monday promised the government would pay out $2,000 tariff dividend checks starting around mid-2026.

Why it matters: Putting a timetable on the checks is a significant step forward versus just suggesting the idea, which Trump has done multiple times this year.

But the dividends would require legislation, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said last weekend, and it's not clear if Congress has the appetite.

We're going to be issuing dividends later on, somewhere prior to, you know, probably the middle of next year, a little bit later than that. Thousands of dollars for individuals of moderate income, middle income," Trump said in remarks to reporters in the Oval Office.

A tariff dividend in the middle of 2026 would mean the government would be putting a huge check in most voters' pockets on the eve of crucial midterm elections.

Such a large and broad distribution could also risk reigniting inflation, as past stimulus checks have done.

The administration is aggressively fighting a growing affordability crisis, arguing that it has inflation under control and will bring prices down next year.

very different. these tariffs were imposed by trump, it's a tax that Americans pay and are feeling the economic effect. it's ruining the global and local economy. very much in line with his tactics: create a problem>solve problem>take credit

speaking of tarrifs, didn't he just rollback some of them bc of sky high prices on those items?

$2,000 would not cover Patrick Chewing's monthly Burger King bill.

He is talking out of his ass. This check must be approved by Congress. Congress will never approve it, and then Dementia Donny will say "I wanted it passed but Congress didn't pass it!"

C'mon, you think everyone is as gullible as MAGA? Anything Trump says is the Gospel for MAGA. Don't you get exhausted of "ALL THE WINNING"?
