I don't just think it's because baseball is less popular because there's a proven track record of transcendent athletes from lesser known sports becoming huge stars. Basketball wasn't AS popular before Magic/Bird/MJ. Golf wasn't AS popular before Tiger. No one gave a fukk about women's basketball but they cared about Caitlyn Clark. No one gave a fukk about swimming but they cared about Michael Phelps. Meanwhile we have maybe the best baseball player of all time and he's nowhere close to being in any of those conversations.
Half the enjoyment from sports is the story. We appreciate greatness but more than anything we want a good story. We need someone we can relate to. Ohtani is an amazing player but we don't relate to him.
No one knows baseball outside of the US

Blatantly false. They don't know baseball in Europe, which is why I guess you anecdotally have this position. But baseball is enormous in much of Latin America/the Caribbean, and Japan. It's now the most popular sport there.
Big in Korea too. Second most popular after soccer and might climb to #1 with one or two more guys being successful in the MLB.
It's not a fully global sport but it's certainly popular in pockets outside of the US.

Blue Jays looked like the 1976 Reds out there. Every batter seemed like a lethal threat.

If they opt not to re-sign Chris Bassitt, who did very well in 2025 on any roles he was assigned for, and/or Max Scherzer, who still has some juice left but clearly is deteriorating, there should be enough money under Rogers' cap to bring Bo back.

You guys are cooked. You just choked away your best chance to win a world series. It's over.
