I don't "want" illegal immigrants, I would want them to come in legally, be vetted, pay taxes etc. However, once they're here, if they prove to be productive members of society, do the hard manual labor jobs Americans don't want to do, and don't commit crime, I honestly don't care if they stay.

Like the drug war you're never going to stop people from coming into the country illegally. The best you can do is secure the border and crack down on those who are criminals. I feel like going city to city rounding up and deporting people like that doesn't have any real discernable benefit to the country, esp when you consider the substantial resources that are being poured into ICE.

Is them coming in legally just a technicality to you, like Biden admin changing the law to make economic asylum a thing for Venezuelans when no such thing existed in the past?

Problem is that if illegals take a lower wage, pay taxes and bunk up 5 people in one apartment, they're technically productive members of society, but they're lowering wages while driving up the price of housing, working as a negative against Americans lower on the income scale. I do agree though that if you can document immigrants are needed for certain work, like hard manual labor, then you could give a group who does that work citizenship.

It's puzzling, so many threads where they scream about not deporting illegals and how the admin is so wrong for doing it, yet they won't even give a few reasons why they want them to stay.

The left doesn't operate on morals, beliefs or principle.
