New career-high points scored in a game for Coop. You want to see more games like this where he's got the green light. Longer leash.

    - 38 minutes played
    - 35 points (13-22 FG, 0-3 3PT, 9-11 FT), 8 rebounds (1 off), 2 assists, 3 turnovers

Cooper is 50/63 (79.4%) at the rim, including 33/41 (80.5%) on non-dunk rim finishes. His dunking (17/22, 77.3%) actually lowers his rim FG%, LOL.

19 of those 50 made rim FGs were assisted (38%); 8 out of 17 made dunks were assisted (47.1%); 11 out of 33 made non-dunk rim finishes were assisted (33.3%).

Additionally, Cooper is 51/113 (45.1%) from 3-16 feet. 12 out of those 51 made FGs were assisted (23.5%).

So, Flagg is scoring really well at the rim when he gets there, despite a very high unassisted rate of 62%. The non-dunk finishing is extremely promising; that left hand is legit, as is the general touch.

The short mid-range game is looking nice, too. That pull-up from 10-16 feet looks really good; he looked like Kawhi hitting those shots tonight. Automatic, robotic, consistent mechanics. I think that's his go-to shot. It flows naturally off his quick two-footed jump.

NBA.com has his expected 2PT% at 52.9%, whereas he's shooting 53.9% (+1%). So he's outperforming the league average on his 2PT shot quality, even with the terrible 16ft+ 2PT shooting (9/28, 32.1%).

    Update on these numbers:

Most promising is Cooper's downhill paint scoring. He's shot 68/112 on 2PT FGs over the last 10 games. That's 60.7% 2PT on 11.2 2pa/g. And most of that is unassisted (off-the-dribble) and in the half-court setting. 32/43 in the restricted area (RA), with a 71.9% unassisted rate. 27/49 in the non-RA paint, with a 66.7% unassisted rate. 9/20 on mid-range 2PT shots outside of the paint, with a 66.7% unassisted rate.

    63/98 (64.3%) from 0-16 feet, 30.2% assisted/69.8% unassisted. 64.3% on 9.8 2pa/g.

    Adding to this:

I checked LeBron's non-dunk rim finishing percentages across the best years of his career (2009, 2010, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021). He ranged from, roughly speaking, 64.3% to about 73.5%. It's an important skill, and he's considered perhaps the gold standard at it.

I'll keep track of Cooper's percentages as the season continues.

Thats the crazy thing. He hasn't even reached peak physical maturity. White people typically enter development later than blacks, so we haven't even seen his true form yet. I couldn't grow a beard til I was 25 but knew guys who could at 16.

A huge win against a top (yet injured) team and a strong performance from Flagg. Another higher-usage game (19 FGs + 4 FTs) despite Davis' return. This is what we should continue to see. The great thing about a precocious young talent is that they get exponentially better month-to-month, if not every game.

    - 33 minutes played
    - 24 point (10-19 FG, 1-3 3PT, 3-4 FT), 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 2 turnovers
    - +13

    Last 11 games:

    - 35.2 mpg
    - 19.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.5 spg, 0.6 bpg, 2.0 topg
    - 60.2% 2PT (11.6 2pa/g), 24.4% 3PT (3.7 3pa/g), 71.4% FT (4.5 fta/g), 57.5% TS

If he shot his expected 3PT% (36.6) average and his 80% FT average, his PPG and TS% would rise to 21.7 and 62.3. This is meaningful because I think his 60.2% 2PT on 11.6 2pa/g is replicable, not just a hot streak. That's the scoring ceiling he could have right now with an improved three-point shot. He's a better outside shooter than what he's shown, and you'd hope he can show that over the rest of the season.

Another win against a top-performing team! That's two in a row for DAL, now. They might just screw around and make the playoffs, LOL. Having AD back helps, but Nembhard is a legit point guard; he's getting everyone better looks, Coop included. Another highly efficient two-point scoring game for the young man.

    - 31 minutes played
    - 22 points (9-13 2PT, 4-5 FT), 6 rebounds (2 off), 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 3 turnovers

He really is improving almost exponentially. Might be an all star as soon as next year at this rate.
