That's all they need: a guy who can bring legitimate size, length, rebounding, and defense -- for 10 minutes. Someone who'll provide an actual physical matchup to guys like Gobert, and the Gasol brothers.
He's their worse player by far. He can't be effective. No way he should be anywhere near the team

also nice to have teammates who will defend and pass the ball and a coach who will make adjustments

2000, sent over an average roster. Almost lost a few matches.

2008/2012, nice teams that cruised and played one competitive match.

    2016 - closer.

2020 - terrible roster. Same trap as last time. Send over the best talent. It is what kept the wide margin.

The world is just catching up. Reality. They have been since 96. Was always bound to happen. League is better for it. Talent at an all time high.
International plays more like the sport in reality as it was up until the mid 2010s.

An actual sport not just entertainment.

More physical. Harder scoring climate. Values half court play. Varying styles. No easy cheap whistles and foul calls.

World wide talent pool has gotten deeper and better at the top. But it’s not that significant. We were dominating as recently as 2010 and 2014 and 2016 without our primo talents.

2019 and 2021 are embarrassments. Some quality players here and there, not A+ tier besides KD and maybe Dame.

But most of them that just chuck threes, can’t handle physicality, if jumper isn’t falling lol suspect and definitely don’t play defense or move the ball with quality court vision and passing.

We also don’t have size. That 92, 94, 96 team would decimate these foreign competition teams easily. Based on carrying play style, size, defense etc

Most of his are. Zero nuance and just usual Gobert ballwashing from a homer.

You're absolutely right, fwiw...especially re: Zion.

StatMuse: Team USA had scored below 80 points only once in the last 56 Olympic games since 1992. They scored 76 points today on 36/31/76% shooting. pic.twitter.com/sF3nGovqIt

Just a wild guess but the stiff must've had something to do with this

For a team full of top tier talents, being unable to grind a win out in last 2 minutes
