Default If rudy gobert retired at the end of the season: Hall of famer?

Remember how short of a career Yao Ming had and he is in the HALL OF FAME. If Gobert retired today should he make the HOF?

Their impacts on the game (on and off the court) were totally different. Gobery does not make the Hall if he retired today.

I think 4x All-NBA & 3x DPOY is enough to make the HOF. We make jokes about his lack of offensive game but his resume is pretty solid tbh.

Gobert has an Olympic Silver medal, Ming doesn't. Vlade Divac is in the Hall so...

He’s not respected enough to make it with so thin a resume. He’d be forgotten if he retired today and absolutely clowned by the public and many people in the hall of fame if the discussion were even had. He’s just not terribly respected by a lot of the types needed and doesn’t have much outside the nba to talk about. Go count Vlades gold medals if you think Rudy is comparable internationally. Vlade was voted top 50 all time internationally….before he made a name in the nba.

A guy that has yet to make a trip to the conference finals? I'll think about it first.

Yeah, the basketball HOF has very weak standards for who they vote in. When it's all said and done, Gobert's resume won't be that far off from someone like Mutombo who's in the HOF.

Mutombo is well respected in the community and beloved for his philanthropic endeavors. Whether this should or shouldn’t matter is another discussion, but in the world we live in it does.
