    Assists per game is at 9.8 now.

    My inner 3ball told me it's having the ball without dominating it. He dominates the game instead.

    So we’re talking about off the ball passing again.

    These type of advanced stats are super useful, not PER or VORP or winshares or whatever which are just aggregates of every other basic stat compiled into a forumula some nerd came up with.

    Super specific stats that show the nuances of the game.

    Basically... Jokic touches the ball more than anybody else on a per catch basis, yet he immediately does something with it when he does catch it instead of westbrooking aka dribbling stalling and probing at the expense of team work and ball movement. Specific metrics like this show why he's so ridiculously effective.

    If we take it one step further and calculate an assist per time of possession stat: he has the ball for 288 seconds each game. He makes (not takes, makes) 11.4 shots and 9.8 assists during that time (and I didn't even include FTs).

    11.4 + 9.8 = 21.2
    288 / 21.2 = 13.6

    Meaning: every 14 seconds he has the ball it is AT LEAST 2 points for the team. Actually, it is more due to FTs and some assists being on 3 pointers. It is more like 2.5 points per 14 seconds of possession.

    Another way to go about it:

    288 seconds
    29 ppg
    9.8 apg ---> 22-23 assisted ppg

    29+23 = 52 ppg scored or assisted. All that in 288 secs. 52 / 288 = 0.18 , so it is 0.18 points per second. In other words: 1 point every 5.5 seconds of having the ball.

    Exactly.

    This is the reason I felt it deserves a thread. One point every 5.5 seconds of possession is just hard to comprehend. The only players having any chance of beating it are the Steve Kerr types. But on much less volume.
