Default Sources: Pistons' Malik Beasley subject of federal gambling probe

    https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/1939352180684669436

The U.S. district attorney's office is investigating Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley on allegations of gambling related to NBA games and prop bets, sources told ESPN on Sunday.

The allegations are from the 2023-24 season, when Beasley played for the Milwaukee Bucks, sources said. Beasley averaged 11.3 points in 79 games that season, during which he made a career high 77 starts.

At least one prominent U.S. sportsbook detected unusual heavy betting interest on Beasley's statistics beginning around January 2024, a gambling industry source told ESPN's David Purdum.

There’s a situation from a couple years before this where He made it brutally obvious he had bet on Minnesota to cover a spread. He scored seven points in the final minute of the game, including demanding the ball and sprinting full court to dunk at the buzzer to cover by one point. The dumbass did it the very day after he was sentenced on a gun charge and knew he would be suspended from the league.

And that isn’t even what they caught him for.

Well there's another free agent off the market, but not by signing more than likely.

Dude was trash in the playoffs. Missing open 3 after open 3 after open 3. And then when he finally hit one, would do a stupid dance as if he was the reason they were finally up. F this guy.

But thanks to him too, Knicks might have lost the series if he wasn't trash.

The spread is 8.5. And that dunk also put him over 20. He had 13 with 1 minute to go. If he had his +20 in a parlay along with covering and whatever else I know he got paid.

He was so sloppy with it. I can’t believe they took another two years to officially investigate him.

This is the absolute most blatant BS I've ever seen.

With the NBA openly endorsing and partnering with sportsbooks, youd think theyd be exposed to class action suits brought by people who lost bets due to cheating players.

I grant it's likely a very limited pool of only the most degenerate gamblers taking prop bets on the likes of Jontay Porter and Malik Beasley, so maybe the prospective amount of damages are limited, but Im still surprised we havent seen any lawsuits yet.
