I have no sympathy for his struggles because he has a talent level that removes any kind of legit excuse. Kendrick Perkins compares himself to current players way too much for a guy that had such limited offensive responsibility but he's completely right when he talks about KAT defense. He could be a good defender of he dedicated himself, he just chooses not to.

Towns used to try pretty hard on defense but they'd call fouls on him when they weren't warranted over and over. It felt like the refs had a vendetta against him for the first few years of his career. Maybe that's why he doesn't play hard defense. Refs have crapp3d on him a ton...clean blocks and you name it they've called fouls. He'd spend so many games in early foul trouble and his team needed him in the game.
