Gary Payton Mini-Interview
By InsideHoops.com
InsideHoops met with Milwaukee's Gary Payton and asked how things are going now that cool cat Sam Cassell is at his side in the backcourt. Our mini-interviews get in, get right to the point, and get out.
InsideHoops.com: Talk about playing with Sam Cassell, the dangerous backcourt you guys form, mismatches you create.
Gary Payton: It creates a lot of mismatches, because we both can handle the ball and we both can score. So, they have to concentrate. And when I duck in people, they have to help, and then when we kick it to him, if I kick it to him over there, he can penetrate and score. So, it makes it hard for a lot of people to guard us, and it's been really great so far.
InsideHoops.com: And, you're playing more point, and he's playing more like a 2, how's that working out?
Gary Payton: That's just the way it is. George wants me to handle the ball a little bit more, he can come off with his stroke, and I can make stuff happen by getting into the paint and dishing. So, it's been nice. Sometimes when I go out, he becomes the point, but I think he's more comfortable with me handling the ball and he coming off for shots.
