Bonzi Wells of the Portland Trailblazers came up limping in Sunday's game against the New York Knicks. Michael Doleac of the Knicks set a solid blind side screen that aggravated Bonzi's ankle. Later in the game Bonzi went up to challenge a Latrell Spreewell jump shot and came down on Spree's foot re-twisting the ankle. Bonzi left the game a few seconds before halftime to get some extra treatment, but came back to start the 3rd quarter. He continued limping throughout the game at times, but he should be good for the Blazers next game on Tuesday versus the Phoenix Suns.
Bonzi Wells is vasily underrated. Playing for five seasons now, he's one of those players that does everything right and doesn't make many mistakes. This season he's averaging 16.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists a game on the very deep Blazer team. If he was the first option on another team he'd be up there with the best in the league.
Bonzi has a ridiculous first step with a nice jump shot. He runs the floor very well and fills the lane on the fast break with the best of them. Wells is also usually the last guy out of the huddle during time-outs. He's not afraid to ask coaches for advice. Wells isn't in the elite group of shooting guards with McGrady and Kobe, but he's getting there.
