Stephon Marbury was a player in a bad situation. All last season and into this season he was labeled as "the guy the Suns traded Jason Kidd for." People complained about him being selfish and other people accused him of being immature. Many fingers have been pointed in his direction but a lot of those fingers are now falling to the wayside.
Starbury is a rare combination of streetball star and NBA all-star. He's also a rarity in that he can create his own shot. He's second in the league with 8.3 assists a game as well. He's a little tank that slides into the lane with no fear.
Marbury can be described in many terms but his numbers speak for themselves. He is averaging 23 points a game this year and if the playoffs started today the Suns would be in at the eighth seed in the West. Marbury has seemed to grow a lot in a short period of time. He's hustling on defense, being more vocal with his team and basically playing more of an all around game.
The thing to remember about Steph's current stellar season is that he is playing
on a bum ankle. He has grown by leaps and bounds and he is still only 25 years
old. The thing most people are going to find hard to believe is where he will
be within the next two years. With players like Kidd and Payton getting older,
Steph should move up into the top spot as the best point in the league. People
will have to put all those old opinions aside and realize that the trade the Suns
pulled was even right down the middle and that they received a player on the rise
rather then decline.
