The Chicago Bulls are 11-38 this season and in a rebuilding year are mostly focused on developing young talent for the future. But for the next few weeks they will do so without rookie small forward Chandler Hutchison.
The team on Saturday announced that Hutchison sustained an acute injury to a sesamoid bone in his right foot on January 23 in a game against the Atlanta Hawks. He will wear walking boot for 2-4 weeks, then be re-examined after the All-Star Break.
All-Star weekend 2019 is February 15-17.
Selected 22nd overall in the first round of last year's draft, Hutchison has come off the bench this season in 30 of the 44 games he's played. In 20.3 minutes per game of playing time, he's averaging modest stats: 5.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per outing.
The Bulls this season are led in scoring by guard Zach LaVine at 23.0 ppg, followed by forward Lauri Markkanen at 17.0 ppg.
