Timberwolves exercise contract option on Josh OkogieThe Timberwolves exercised their third-year contract option on guard Josh Okogie today.

The 23-year-old Okogie is in second NBA season, and through four games has a 2019-20 season average of 9.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals per outing.

Last season as a rookie, Okogie averaged 7.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in 74 games played. He received 52 starts, which is impressive for a rookie.

The Timberwolves drafted Okogie 20th overall in 2018. He played college basketball at Georgia Tech.

With a 3-1 record so far this season, the Wolves are only outscoring opponents by 2.0 points per game. It will be interesting to see if the the team moves in a winning or losing direction these next few weeks.

A big bright spot in the four games has been outstanding play by center Karl-Anthony Towns: 27.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.8 blocks per game. His time on the floor last night ended early due to a scuffle with Sixers center Joel Embiid that will surely result in a fine and quite possibly more. But overall, he's been great early this season.
