Report: Celtics to sign Kemba WalkerThe Boston Celtics will reportedly soon finalize an agremeent with a new star point guard.

Per multiple reports, Charlotte Hornets free agent guard Kemba Walker is set to sign a contract with the Celtics at the start of free agency, which formally begins Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.

The Celtics already have a key free agent point guard, Kyrie Irving, but all signs point to his future being elsewhere. This even before the reports today that the team will be adding Walker.

Having spent his entire NBA career with Charlotte, Walker, who turned 29 years old in May, enjoyed the most high-scoring season in 2018-19, averaging 25.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists.

Walker has never averaged more than 6.1 assists in an NBA season. However, the rosters he's been a part of have never featured many go-to scoring options.

This solves Boston's backcourt situation. Their main free agency concern is now the center spot, as the team may be losing versatile big-man Al Horford.
