Theo Ratliff Mini-Interview
By InsideHoops.com
InsideHoops.com met with Theo Ratliff Monday night after Theo played streetball in the EBC at Rucker Park and had a quick chat about the Atlanta Hawks, specifically in regard to the team trading Glenn Robinson away for Terrell Brandon's contract. Robinson is a healthy player with scoring ability, while Brandon is retiring due to injury.
InsideHoops.com: Talk about the Hawks being sold, rebuilding and everything going on.
Theo Ratliff: It's terrible at times. I think if we can just get the right owner in there that's real enthusiastic about the team, we can make moves and make the right moves, and make the right changes and get the right people in place and be competitive in this league.
InsideHoops.com: What was your reaction when you heard they were trading Glenn Robinson for basically the contract of Terrell Brandon?
Theo Ratliff: It's basically management's decision. It's about chemistry. A lot of things are about chemistry. You can have people on your team, you have force on your team, but if you don't have chemistry, it don't matter. And I think that was moreso a chemistry move and a money move, trying to save money, more than anything.
InsideHoops.com: So the trade was for chemistry reasons as well as clearing money?
Theo Ratliff: I think so. That's the way I see it.
