Suns waive Wayne Ellington, who should attract free agent attentionThe Phoenix Suns yesterday waived guard Wayne Ellington. The veteran Ellington still may attract attention once he clears waivers, to bolster a team's bench. Ellington was only a Sun briefly: The team acquired him from the Heat in a trade that was completed the day before yesterday.

For his career, Ellington's NBA average is 8.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in 21.0 minutes per game. Last season, for the Heat, he averaged 8.4 points and 1.9 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per game. His shooting has been a struggle, however. He shot 37.5% FG last season, 40.7% FG the season before, and 41.6% FG the one before. On the bright side, his three-point shooting has remained consistent and solid. There are now 15 players on the Suns roster.
