Time Concepts has some cool new styles in their Hawaiian Lifeguard Association watch collection. They've gone blue, and the three choices in the category are a blue dial and blue strap model, a white dial with a blue strap model -- both in steel tone cases -- and a gunmetal case with blue dial and light gray strap.

I received the white face, blue band watch, and really like it. It's a good weight: just enough for you to remember that yes, you are in fact wearing a watch, but it's not heavy and won't bog you down. But it does feel rugged. Like something you'd wear out anywhere, taking it out on the town for a night out yet also wearing it on a hike, at the beach or someplace else without having to worry about it should some unexpected adventures unfold. The timepiece feels extremely well built.

Per Times Concepts, "HLA watches feature a 316L stainless-steel case, case back and 120-click bezel, with screw crowns and case backs to ensure water resistance up to 200 meters (656 feet), with a highly scratch resistant K1 crystal, thick Swiss Superluminova lume on hands and indices for easy reading all night long and powered by a dependable Japanese quartz three-hand and date movement. The result is the most precise timekeeping in some of the world’s most dangerous lifesaving situations, where every second counts."

The watch's clasp also features the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association logo that you can see on the upper face of the watch. It's slick.

The strap is a good, well-made rubber that feels great on the wrist. It's exactly what you'd hope the band would look and feel like for a watch that is presumably supposed to remind you of the beach and the great outdoors.

On the face, the logo and the minute-hand edges are a perfect shade of red that matches nicely with the strap's particular shade of blue.

It's also cool that the HLA even have their own watches at all. I mean, how many lifeguard groups, associations, etc. can you even name? For me, the total is now one, and it's HLA. It makes sense. If you're good enough to be a lifeguard in a beach paradise type place like Hawaii, you probably do deserve your own merchandise.

Looking at their website page, the other colors that I particularly like are the yellow on yellow and white on white. They both somehow scream "beach!" to me, yet as with this one I actually have, they'd stand out nicely in pretty much any setting. In addition to this blue watch, definitely check out those yellow on yellow watches.

A portion of the proceeds of every watch sale is given back to the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association.

I love the watch. Time Concepts did a great job. You can hit that link above to get one for yourself.
