Wizards trade Markieff Morris to Pelicans for Wesley Johnson

In a trade with the Washington Wizards, the New Orleans Pelicans have acquired forward Markieff Morris and a 2023 second round draft pick. The Wizards in return get forward Wesley Johnson.

Morris, 6-10, 245, has played in 34 games (15 starts) for the Wizards this season, averaging 11.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 26.0 minutes per outing. Drafted 13th overall by the Suns in 2011, his NBA career averages are 11.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 26.4 minutes per game.

Johnson during his NBA career is averaging 7.0 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting .338 from three-point range in 597 career games (334 starts) over eight seasons with Minnesota, Phoenix, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans. This season with the Pelicans he's been averaging 3.7 points and 2.1 rebounds while shooting .380 from three-point range in 26 games (13 starts).
