For the second time in the last 10 weeks, Utah
Jazz center Olden Polynice has been charged with impersonating a police
officer, again during a problem with another motorist.
Polynice has said that he carries an honorary badge
given to him by the Los Angeles Police Department.
The official InsideHoops opinion: If Olden wants
to pretend to be a police officer, we say let him! Who are criminals more
likely to obey, your average chubby cop (no offense to chubby cops, we
love you! Don't hurt us! We'll pay up, we'll pay up! Ow! Ow!) or a 7-foot
tall, in-shape basketball player?
In fact, InsideHoops proposes that all physically-imposing
basketball players be given honorary police badges and actual police uniforms
and sent out to patrol the streets. Forget "The Fun Police," (remember
that ad campaign?) let them just be "The Police!" When Karl Malone waves
his nightstick, you WILL pick up that litter you dropped, trust me. Not
going to move your illegally-parked car? Shaq will gladly pick it up and
move it for you.
