Here are some team notes on Portland Trail Blazers (17-24) guard C.J. McCollum, who is averaging 20.8 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 4.5 apg this season:
LAST GAME: Scored 15 points and dished out eight assists in 34 minutes.
2015-16 SEASON: Became the third NBA player this season to score 25+ points and shoot 50% in four straight games.
Had a career high 37 pts on (14-of-22 FG, 6-9 3-PT) on 10/28 vs. NOP.
Through Portland’s first 41 games, McCollum (39 games played) ranks second on the team in both
scoring (20.8 ppg) and three-point field goals (97). McCollum, who
scored more points in his first 22 games this season (425) than
he did in all of 2014-15 (424), averaged 4.6 points and made 21
three-pointers through Portland’s first 41 games last season. He
has scored in double figures every game this season, after doing
so just four times through the halfway mark last year.
McCollum scored 15 points against Utah on
Jan. 13, and has now recorded at least 15 points in 20 consecutive
games. That is the second-longest active streak in the NBA
(Durant-25).
McCollum scored 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting
at Denver on Jan. 3, making him just the fourth player in the
NBA this season to score at least 25 points on 50% shooting in
four consecutive games (Curry, Lillard, Wall). McCollum averaged
30.3 points on 54.4% shooting (46.7% 3-PT) over that four game
stretch (12/27 to 1/3).
McCollum finished with 35
points (14-28 FG, 3-9 3-PT), a career-high 11 rebounds and nine
assists against Sacramento on Dec. 27, making him the first Trail
Blazer to record at least 35 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists and
four steals since Clyde Drexler (1/28/92 at GSW). He’s also the first
NBA player to accomplish that since Kevin Garnett on 12/10/04.
