Here are yesterday's NBA regular season results:
Charlotte 94, Miami 82 -- The AP reports: Gerald Wallace scored 26 points, Jason Richardson had 24, and the Bobcats held off an early fourth-quarter rally to beat the Heat 94-82 and snap a five-game losing streak.
Nazr Mohammed added 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Raymond Felton had 10 assists for Charlotte, which saw a 14-point lead midway through the third quarter trimmed to three points early in the fourth... Jason Williams scored 19 points, Ricky Davis had 15 and Chris Quinn 14 for injury-riddled Miami, which dressed just nine players in losing its third straight and 11th in 12 games in March.
Philadelphia 91, New Jersey 87 -- The AP reports: Andre Iguodala scored 19 of his 28 points in the second half, Samuel Dalembert had 11 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks, and the 76ers rallied for a 91-87 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Saturday night.
Andre Miller had 21 points and five assists, and Lou Williams came off the bench to add 15 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field for the Sixers, who have won 17 of their last 22 games... Vince Carter led New Jersey with 27 points but was only 10-for-25 from the floor. Richard Jefferson was held to 11 points on 3-for-15 shooting.
Atlanta 98, Orlando 90 -- The AP reports: Joe Johnson scored 34 points, Mike Bibby had 20 and the Hawks beat the Orlando Magic 98-90 on Saturday night.
Josh Smith finished with 19 points for the Hawks, who took their sixth straight home victory against Orlando... Bibby caused matchup problems for the Magic and had a game-high eight assists... Hedo Turkoglu led Orlando with 18 points. Jameer Nelson had 16 points, and Howard finished with 16 rebounds.
The Magic are now 46-26, third-best in the East, and despite the loss, they still lead fourth-place Cleveland by five games.
Minnesota 114, New York 93 -- The AP reports: Ryan Gomes scored 26 points, reserve Rashad McCants had 24, and Minnesota beat New York 114-93 on Saturday night to win for the sixth time in nine games. The Knicks have lost 11 of their last 12... For New York, reserve Malik Rose had 20 points. Coach Isiah Thomas spent the week insisting the franchise’s future includes him, and he ordered up another evaluative starting lineup, with Zach Randolph benched in favor Randolph Morris... “It’s been a very big disappointment, the whole season,” said David Lee, who had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Memphis 117, Sacramento 111 -- The AP reports: The lowly Memphis Grizzlies suddenly are feasting on some of the NBA’s other struggling teams.
Juan Carlos Navarro scored 11 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and the Grizzlies held on for a 117-111 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night... Rudy Gay led Memphis with 24 points, and Darko Milicic had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Memphis, which had seven players finish in double figures, including all five starters.
Kevin Martin led the Kings with 29 points, and Spencer Hawes had career highs with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Francisco Garcia added 15 points, and John Salmons finished with 12... Three key Kings—Ron Artest, Brad Miller and Beno Udrih—sat out with nagging injuries, allowing some of the younger Sacramento players to show some of their talents before the end of the season.
New Orleans 113, Boston 106 -- The AP reports: The Boston Celtics’ recent dominance of the powerful Western Conference ended at the hands of an All-Star fittingly named West.
David West scored 37 points and the New Orleans Hornets overcame an early 15-point deficit to beat Boston 113-106 on Saturday night... Chris Paul, despite playing only 29 minutes because of foul trouble, had 19 points and hit a pair of clutch jumpers in the waning minutes as New Orleans added a win over the mighty Celtics to recent triumphs over San Antonio, the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston... Paul Pierce had 16 of his 28 points in the first quarter and the Celtics shot better than 60 percent and led by double digits until well into the third... Bonzi Wells had 12 points and eight steals, six in the fourth quarter to set a franchise record and help New Orleans hold Boston to 17 points.
Milwaukee 108, Cleveland 98 -- The AP reports: Mo Williams scored 29 points and had 13 of Milwaukee’s 26 assists, and the Bucks snapped a six-game losing streak with a 108-98 victory over the Cavaliers on Saturday night... LeBron James scored 29, Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 20 and Wally Szczerbiak 14 as Cleveland failed in its first attempt at going 11 games over .500 this season... Michael Redd, who finished with 21 points, and Williams sparked a stretch that bridged the third and fourth quarters and gave Milwaukee a 90-76 lead with 8:24 left to play... Andrew Bogut scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Bucks in his first game back at center after missing the last two games with a thigh injury.
Indiana 108, Chicago 101 -- The AP reports: Mike Dunleavy scored 25 points, Troy Murphy added 24, and the Indiana Pacers extended their winning streak to a season-best four games with a 108-101 comeback victory over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night.
Danny Granger shrugged off a 7-of-20 shooting night for 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Pacers, who snapped a five-game road losing streak and continued their late-season postseason charge... Luol Deng scored 28 points and Ben Gordon added 21 off the bench for the Bulls, who have lost two straight.
Chicago forward Andres Nocioni played just 2 minutes, 44 seconds. He was pulled from the game early in the second quarter after yelling at Chicago coach Jim Boylan.
Utah 115, Seattle 101 -- Mehmet Okur, who has been ailing with a stomach flu this week, scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half Saturday night and sparked Utah’s game-changing run in a 115-101 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics, who have lost 11 in a row... “Memo was cooking, said Carlos Boozer, who led the Jazz with 26 points and 13 rebounds, his 45th double-double... Jeff Green had a career-high 23 points and fellow rookie Kevin Durant also scored 23 points for the Sonics, outscored 63-40 in the second half. Seattle has lost its last nine road games by an average more than 20 points... Deron Williams had 15 points and 14 assists while penetrating at will in the second half. Because of injuries, Luke Ridnour had to play the entire second half and couldn’t stay with the shifty Jazz guard, who found open teammates.
Phoenix 122, Houston 113 -- Amare Stoudemire scored 38 points, including a franchise-record 20-of-20 on free throws, and the Phoenix Suns won their seventh in a row by beating the Houston Rockets 122-113 on Saturday night.
Stoudemire, who also had 13 rebounds and four blocked shots, broke the club record for consecutive free throws in a game of 17, set by Paul Silas against Atlanta on Jan. 10, 1971. Shaquille O’Neal added 23 points—his most since coming to Phoenix—and grabbed 13 rebounds... Leandro Barbosa, starting because Raja Bell is out with a sprained right ankle, scored 21 for Phoenix.
Tracy McGrady had 30 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for the Rockets, who trailed by 23 in the second quarter and 17 at the half. The Rockets cut it to eight on several occasions but could get no closer.
Portland 83, LA Clippers 72 -- Joel Przybilla had a career-high 25 rebounds and 14 points, Brandon Roy scored 23 points and the Portland Trail Blazers sent the Los Angeles Clippers to their seventh straight loss with an 83-72 victory on Saturday night.
LaMarcus Aldridge had 21 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Trail Blazers complete a three-game season sweep. The combined margin of victory in the three games was just 18 points. Los Angeles came into this season having won six of the previous seven meetings, including eight straight at Staples Center.
Corey Maggette scored 21 points for the Clippers, who shot 39 percent from the field while matching their longest losing streak of the season.
