Here are yesterday's NBA regular season results:
Orlando 113, Philadelphia 95 -- The AP reports: Rashard Lewis scored 18 points and Orlando led by as many as 34 in a 113-95 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Eight Magic players scored in double figures, and Dwight Howard had 13 points and 12 rebounds in just 23 minutes.
“We definitely wanted to send a message, especially redeem ourselves after last time in Philadelphia,” said Jameer Nelson, who had 12 points and seven assists... Louis Williams scored 18 for Philadelphia, Andre Iguodala added 14 points and reserve Rodney Carney had 11 points. The 76ers, who at 34-35 are still trying to clinch an Eastern Conference playoff spot, had won four in a row and 10 of 12... Hedo Turkoglu had 16 points and nine assists and Keyon Dooling scored 13 for the Magic. Jameer Nelson had 12 points and seven assists and Maurice Evans scored 12, Keith Bogans added 11 points and Brian Cook scored 10.
Indiana 124, Minnesota 113 -- The AP reports: Danny Granger scored 32 points to lead the Pacers past Minnesota 124-113 Friday night for their third straight victory. Indiana moved within 1 1/2 games of idle Atlanta for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Despite a sprained right wrist, an injury that kept him out of Wednesday’s game against Charlotte, Granger played nearly 40 minutes and shot 11-of-23 from the field, including 6-of-8 from beyond the arc... Mike Dunleavy had 25 points and seven assists, and Troy Murphy added 22 points and 15 rebounds for the Pacers (28-41), who set a franchise record with 16 3-pointers made... Rashad McCants had 22 points, Randy Foye scored 16 and Kirk Snyder 15 for the Timberwolves (17-51), who were trying to win three straight games for the first time this season.
Memphis 120, New York 106 -- The AP reports: Mike Miller scored 24 of his season-high 34 points in the first half, and the Grizzlies snapped an 18-game road losing streak Friday night with a 120-106 victory over the New York Knicks... Rudy Gay added 24 points for the Grizzlies, who stormed to a 19-point halftime lead, blew it all before the end of the third quarter, then pulled away again for their first win outside Memphis since beating Indiana on Jan. 2... Juan Carlos Navarro finished with 17 points, leaving to a loud ovation in the final minutes as Miller held the rookie’s arm up in the air... Jamal Crawford, the only member of New York’s preferred starting lineup who played, scored 22 points. Nate Robinson had 18 and rookie Wilson Chandler 17 for the Knicks (19-49), who have lost three straight, 10 of 11, and matched their loss total from all of last season.
Washington 103, Miami 86 -- The AP reports: Caron Butler scored 25 points and Antawn Jamison added 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Washington Wizards to a 103-86 victory over the Miami Heat on Friday night. Butler eclipsed the 20-point mark for the first time in five games since returning from a strained hip flexor that kept him out of the previous 16 games... Bobby Jones scored 15 points for the Heat, who have lost 10 of their last 11 games and 37 of their last 41...
Cleveland 90, Toronto 83 -- The AP reports: LeBron James passed Brad Daugherty as Cleveland’s career scoring leader in the first quarter and finished with 29 points, leading the Cavaliers to a 90-83 win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday night in a possible first-round playoff preview.
In just his fifth NBA season, James has already moved to the top of Cleveland’s scoring chart, a remarkable achievement for a remarkable player whose potential seems limitless. He scored 23 points in the second half, including 11 in the final 7:19 as the Cavaliers won their ninth straight at home... Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 16 points, Devin Brown scored 14 and Damon Jones knocked down two crucial 3-pointers early in the fourth for Cleveland, which opened a 4 1/2 -game lead over the Raptors for the No. 4 spot in the Eastern Conference.
Chris Bosh scored 24 points in his second game back after missing 10 with a sore knee for Toronto, which slipped to No. 6 in the East. Rasho Nesterovic added 16 for the Raptors, who held the Miami Heat to 54 points in a win on Wednesday night.
Denver 125, New Jersey 114 -- The AP reports: Allen Iverson had 26 points, nine assists, and combined with Linas Kleiza, JR Smith and Eduardo Najera on a 14-1 fourth-quarter spurt that carried the Nuggets to a 125-114 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Friday night... Marcus Camby added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets, while former Net Kenyon Martin and Carmelo Anthony had 17 points apiece.
Vince Carter scored 32 points and Richard Jefferson added 29 for the Nets, who fell a half-game behind idle Atlanta in the race for the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference. Devin Harris added 16 points and a career-high 13 assists for New Jersey, which lost at home for the third time in 11 games.
San Antonio 102, Sacramento 89 -- The AP reports: Tim Duncan had 21 points and 13 rebounds, and the Spurs routed the Sacramento Kings 102-89 on Friday night... Ron Artest scored 23 points for Sacramento—17 in the first half—and Kevin Martin added 20. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Kings, who are 11th in the West and sit more than 10 games out of eighth place... Tony Parker added 19 points for the Spurs, Jacque Vaughn scored 11 and Bruce Bowen had 10.
Anthony Johnson, who started in place of an injured Beno Udrih, scored 12 points for Sacramento.
Portland 107, LA Clippers 102 -- The AP reports: LaMarcus Aldridge had 22 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high seven assists, Brandon Roy added 21 points and six assists, and the Trail Blazers beat the Los Angeles Clippers 107-102 on Friday night.
Martell Webster had 16 points and Steve Blake had 15 points and 11 assists for Portland, which has slim playoff hopes but has seen the emergence of Aldridge as a low-post complement to All-Star guard Roy... Cuttino Mobley scored 22 of his 24 points in the second half, and Josh Powell added 21 for the Clippers. Los Angeles has lost six straight and 14 of 16 and was missing leading scorer Corey Maggette because of a sore shoulder. Dan Dickau had 14 points and seven assists, Smush Parker had 14 points and six assists, and Quinton Ross had 12 points for Clippers, who host Portland on Saturday at the Staples Center.
Houston 109, Golden State 106 -- The AP reports: It took an improbable 3-pointer from Bobby Jackson and an impressive all-around effort from Tracy McGrady to get the Houston Rockets back to their winning ways.
McGrady had 26 points while running the offense, Jackson hit two key 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and the Rockets got back to playing like they did during their 22-game winning streak in a 109-106 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Friday night... Carl Landry returned from a seven-game absence from a knee injury to score 17 points for the Rockets, who started their 22-game winning streak with a victory over Golden State on Jan. 29. Jackson scored 16 off the bench.
Baron Davis scored 27 points and Monta Ellis added 24 to lead the Warriors. Al Harrington added 18 points and a season-high 14 rebounds, while Mickael Pietrus had 16 points and 13 boards.
LA Lakers 130, Seattle 105 -- The AP reports: Kobe Bryant scored 23 points, seven of his teammates also finished in double digits on Friday night, and Los Angeles remained on top of the Western Conference standings with a 130-105 rout of the club with the second-worst record in the NBA.
Luke Walton scored all of his 17 points in the fourth quarter to tie a season high, while Bryant, Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher and Ronny Turiaf all spent the final 12 minutes on the bench. Odom had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Every Lakers starter scored in double digits, and the team is 14-1 when that happens... Rookie Kevin Durant had 20 points for the Sonics, a year and three days after his Texas Longhorns were bounced from the NCAA tournament with an 87-68 loss to USC in the East Region.
