Marcus Smart interview, pre-draft interview quotesThe following are some Marcus Smart pre-draft interview quotes from Wednesday, one day before the 2014 NBA Draft. Smart attended Oklahoma State, and is a talented draft prospect:

Question: How are you feeling about everything right now?

Marcus Smart: : Calm. A lot of people have been asking me that. My family’s been asking me. I’m calm right now. I really can’t say how I’ll be feeling tomorrow night, but whatever I’m feeling, I’m gonna go with it.

Question: What have you heard from the Celtics?

Smart: : I’ve heard a lot of great feedback from those guys. I was told I did very well, and I’m one of the guys they’re really looking at.

Question: Are you surprised by the fact that last year you were considered a lock top three pick, and as of today, there’s a much wider range. Any idea what caused that?

Smart: : I have no clue what caused that. But, I’m not too worried about it. Ultimately, I’m still going to be able to play in the NBA. I’m going to hear my name called tomorrow night. And, I still go invited to the green room, so all in all, nothing really changed. I’m excited about it.

Question: Which teams did you go back to for a second workout?

Smart: : I’ve been back to L.A., the Lakers. I’ve been back to Orlando. And, I’ve been back to Boston.

Question: It has to be a good sign, in terms of Boston, that they already have a point, yet are still very interested in taking you, right?

Smart: : Definitely. Like you said, they already have a very good point guard, so the fact they still have high interest in me says a lot. I just try to go in and show every team, this is what you’re going to get out of me every day. This is the type of player I am.

Question: Do you agree that this is one of the better Draft classes in recent memory?

Smart: : Definitely. It’s pretty crazy. Everyone knows from the top through the end of the Lottery, there’s a lot of talented guys in there. Beyond that, you can go down to the late first and early second round and still find a lot of really talented players. This class is definitely one of the better classes.

Question: A long time scout said one of the best things about you is that if you were drafted and the said you were going to be the starting small forward next season, you would just embrace it and go to work. What does that say about you as a person and player?

Smart: : I think it says a lot. I think it shows how willing I am to do anything to help the team, that I work hard and never back down from a challenge. I was able to play one through four this year in college. I’m not saying I can play one through four in the NBA. That’s a whole different level, but if a team drafted me and asked me to play there, I’d definitely take it on.
