NBA pre-draft interview quotes from Otto Porter, a 6-9, 198-pound small forward who played college basketball at Georgetown. Here's what he had to say the day before the 2013 NBA Draft:
Q: How exciting is it knowing tomorrow is going to be the day a lifelong dream is fulfilled?
Otto Porter: It is indescribable how I feel. It’s just happening so fast. I’m just trying to enjoy it right now; I’m very excited.
Q: How much attention have you paid over the last month to mock drafts and the potential of you landing in Washington?
Porter: Actually, I let my agent look at that, and he just told me to go out there and have fun while I work out, and just to get prepared for tomorrow. Anywhere I go, I feel it will be a great prospect for me.
Q: How difficult is it to know that everything now is out of your hands?
Porter: But that’s part of it. As long as I can control what I can control … that’s all I’m worried about. Whoever picks me, I’m just going to go there and work hard.
Q: Is there any part of that is hoping for Washington, because of the familiarity?
Porter: The way I look at it, anywhere I go I feel like I’ll definitely get accustomed. And just go there with the mindset of wanting to play and wanting to win.
Q: Do you feel you should be in the conversation for the No. 1 pick?
Porter: Definitely. I feel that my game and my versatility, what I do, I feel it deserves No. 1.
Q: Have you looked at the Cleveland roster and how you might fit on that team?
Porter: A little bit, yeah. You have Kyrie, a great one; you have Dion at the two; you have Tristan Thompson, a four. They are missing a piece and I feel that’s where I come into play.
