The Reno Bighorns, NBA D-League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, announced today that David Arseneault Jr. will serve as the team’s head coach.
Arseneault, 28, joins the Bighorns after spending the last four seasons as an associate head coach for Grinnell College, where he served under his father. Prior to starting a career in the coaching ranks, Arseneault was a three-time Bob Cousy Award finalist as a point guard at Grinnell, finishing as the all-time Division III leader in assist average (9.4).
In a related move, former Erie Bayhawks assistant Ben McDonald will join current Bighorns assistant coach Ross McMains on Arseneault’s staff. A former University of California Irvine standout, McDonald played professionally in the NBA and overseas before coaching stints at the University of California Dominguez (1996-97) and Indiana University (2001-04).
Additionally, the Bighorns have promoted Scott Schroeder from assistant coach/video coordinator to Director of Basketball Operations. Prior to his tenure in Reno, he worked for two seasons in a similar capacity with the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Reno also announced that Jervae Odom will return for his fourth season as the team’s lead trainer and equipment manager.
