Corey 'Homicide' Williams Indonesia diary
By Corey Williams | August 9, 2010
My journey from the playground has taken me to many places, but never in my wildest dreams would I have ever picked Surabaya in Indonesia.
The DBL basketball league is a high school competition with kids from 21 regions all with 1 goal, winning the dbl championship.
Last year they held a world Camp with participants that totaled 180 kids: 90 boys 90 girls. That toal was cut down to 24 kids: 12 boys and 12 girls to go on a tour to the United States, Austrailia, and Singpore. Special tour guests included NBA players David Lee, Kevin Martin (Sacramento Kings) and Danny Granger (Indiana Pacers).
This year I am proud to announce the feature for the 2010 DBL World Basketball Camp is
non other than the Australia NBL's Most Valuable Player Corey 'Homicide' Williams -- that's right, me!
From the moment I met with DBL commissioner Azrul Ananda, I knew in some way we were going to be able to work together and help the growth and development of basketball in Surabaya.
The trip took took more than a day to get here, but the arrival was overwhelming.
Ince i got off the plane and walked out of the airport, I felt like an A-list celebrity leaving LAX! Papparazzi everywhere. The only thing missing was a camera from TMZ!
I had two bodyguards, a personal assistant, my private car, and of course a 5-star hotel to match.
Once I got to the hotel, I was met by the hotel's General Manager, and other workers with rose petals and gifts (can someone say Prince Akeem from Zamunda?)
I was blown away. and I just landed this was just the beginning.
Stay tuned for day two.
