| Fireball NYC League

Fireball BasketballThe Fireball basketball league in New York City is a rec (or some would say streetball, though it's played indoors) hoops league with games played in the Baruch College gym at East 24th street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan. Fireball basketball is definitely some of the best rec league ball around, with tons of great players involved. Lots of former and current NBA players have and still do sometimes play on Fireball basketball teams. Other players have varying levels of college experience, and there are great other players involved as well.

The 2011 Fireball pro league kicked off May 16, and they made sure to make fans aware that the season is dedicated to the memories of three huge basketball names that are no longer with us: John Strickland, Troy "Escalade" Jackson, and Troy Truesdale.

A couple big names this season have been Gary Forbes (Denver Nuggets) and Smush Parker (formerly with the Los Angeles Lakers). Fireball basketball league fans know that Smush has been around for years.

Also rocking in the 2011 Fireball pro game is Gary Ervin, playing for United Brooklyn/Primetime.

Here's Gary Ervin in late May, 2011 talking about playing pro ball in Australia, as well as in the Fireball league:

Another Fireball veteran player who is still doing his thing is Antwan Dobie, nicknamed "Antifreeze." Everyone in NYC knows his game.

SATURDAY, JUNE 25th: "THE SEMIS" Playoffs: The 5PM ET game is BEDFORD Y vs. BINGO ALLSTARS, featuring Jerel Blassingame, Steve Burtt, Kenny Sat, Antwan Dobie, Jerome Richardson, Glover Bros., Jamel White, Al Shep, Alexis Foyle, Miles High and more. The 7:00pm ET game is FOOTPRINTZ vs. XMEN, with Gary Forbes, Cheyne Gadson, Smush Parker, BJ Beast, Tommie Eddie, Jarrid Frye, Mike Campbell, JC Mathis, Mike Coburn and other players.
