chris mihm has right ankle surgeryLos Angeles Lakers center Chris Mihm underwent successful surgery today on his right ankle, it was announced by the team. The procedure, performed in Baltimore by Dr. Mark Meyerson, repaired Mihm’s posterior tibialis tendon; repaired his deltoid ligament; and realigned his heel bone.

Mihm is scheduled for a follow-up examination by Dr. Meyerson on December 7 in Los Angeles.

Mihm’s right foot will be completely immobilized for 4-5 weeks; he will then begin therapy and rehabilitation while wearing a boot for another 5-6 weeks. He is expected to make a complete recovery in approximately 6-8 months.

In 59 games (56 starts) last season, Mihm averaged a career-best 10.2 points on 50.1 percent shooting from the field while averaging 6.3 rebounds and 1.24 blocks in a career-high 26.1 minutes. On the year, Mihm recorded seven double-doubles while leading the team in scoring once and in rebounding on 16 occasions.

In two seasons with the Lakers, Mihm has averaged 10.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.35 blocks.
