LATRELL
SPREWELL INTERVIEW
This is
a quick, older interview, recorded last season while Spree was on the road
in Los Angeles, but the questions are timeless. Between INSIDE HOOPS' Jeff
Lenchiner and the Knicks' Latrell Sprewell.
Jeff: Latrell,
who were your favorite players when you were a kid?
Latrell: (enthusiastically)
Jordan... Jordan, Bird, Magic, Worthy... Dr.J... and from Milwaukee, you
probably don't remember this guy - Brian Winters. He was a shooter.
Jeff: Any specific
moves you tried to steal from people back then?
Latrell: No,
just Jordan - everyone wanted to do the hang-time thing, the up-and-under
(does the motion with his hands) and things like that.
Jeff: And how
much did you play as a kid, and how much did you dream about making it?
Latrell: I
played a lot... I played a lot. I'm living out a childhood dream right
now, so it's fun.
Jeff: When
you were young, at what point did you figure out that you were better than
the average ball-player?
Latrell: I
think probably after my sophomore year of high school...
Jeff: What
happened?
Latrell: I
just started to grow, and some of the guys that were considered to be pretty
good, I could compete with those guys.
Jeff: So the
skills went up right around the time the growth went up... no growing pains...
Latrell: Exactly.
Jeff: And since
this is for InsideHoops.com - the web, do you ever actually go on the internet?
Latrell: All
the the time!
Jeff: Cool,
and what do you do?
Latrell: I'm
usually on there playing Unreal Tournament.
