| 2007

The Washington Wizards are down 3 games to 0 in their best-of-seven first round NBA Playoffs series with the Cleveland Cavaliers. They're playing without Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler, two of the team's three key stars. Here are some Wizards quotes from April 29, 2007, an off-day between games 3 and 4:

washington wizards quotes Wizards coach Eddie Jordan on the team: “It is about one game and our approach to that one game. I think our spirits our good and we are in a good frame of mind. We have a game plan that we think we can execute better.”

Eddie Jordan on Game 3: “We thought that in the first half of yesterday’s game that we were outworked. Our guys were in pretty good position, whether they were rebounding or help defense. The Cavaliers got to a point where they were cutting harder. They were driving us under the basket even though we had good position. Even though we were in good position, we have to work harder. We have to drive people out and chase those loose balls.”

washington wizards quotes Wizards forward Antawn Jamison on the series: “We have been playing hard. The games have been close, but success is not measured by how close the games are; it is about wins and loses. They have done a great job of closing the games out. We have to get a victory tomorrow to send the series back to Cleveland.”

Jamison on Game 4: “I thought we did not take quality shots in the fourth quarter yesterday. We made some mistakes, and we did not capitalize on the offensive end. Cleveland does a great job of making you pay for your mistakes.”

Jamison on the team: “Our confidence level is still up. We are still holding our heads up. We are out there competing and having fun. We are playing hard. It has been like this for the last couple of weeks. We have been so close, but we have not been able to get over the hump. We always feel we can win.”

Guard Antonio Daniels on the team: “All we have to do is win a game. Tomorrow’s game more than any other time this year it is a must win. It is win or go home and I am not ready to go home. I do not think anybody in our locker room is ready to go home.”

Guard Antonio Daniels on Game 4: “We have to lay it on the line regardless. It is playoff time and there is not any other approach you can have. You have to go out there, lay it on the line and see what happens. You play with all your heart. You play with all your soul. You play together. You stay positive and you leave it out there on the floor.”

Guard Antonio Daniels on his left ankle: “It is fine, a little sore. I will be ready to go tomorrow.”
